Best clubbing in Istanbul!

Looking for THE club to TOP your stay in Istanbul!

After trying almost every club in Istanbul I was back in Anjelique last Saturday. It was close to 1:00 am when I arrived with friends. The location is Ortakoy and very easy to reach but please consider a very heavy traffic along the coast line at nights in the summer time. A private boat transfer is a better option to take!

It is no surprise the door policy is strict for anyone without a connection. If you are a men only group it is a high possibility you will be rejected. And you will miss quite a lot!

The dress code is - LOOK TRENDY AND GOOD - what ever that makes you to wear.

Mid June to Mid September the average age in the club is older - 25 to 35 years - and rest of the year it is more 20 to 30 with a lot of trendy and wealthy college students. This certainly does not mean over 35 is not there but keep in mind even the aged ones look and feel at least 10 years younger. So you better be in shape!

People of Anjelique are all over the World but Turkish population is always the highest. This three story old mansion plays two different type of music in two stories. Upper floor attracts more sophisticated electronic music lovers where the first floor is more daily trendy. Connection between the floors is very easy with no restriction. The performance of both DJ's in this two floors are one of the best in the city if not the best!

Pricing is as it should be considering similar clubs all around the World. Approximately EUR 15 per cocktail and EUR 8 for a beer. For seating and bistro arrangements there is bottle requirement. For an easy entrance and a good location in the club pre arrangement is recommended.

Both floors have terraces overlooking to Bosphorus and to the bridge connecting the two Continents. The view is just spectacular. Volume at outdoor areas are not as high as indoor due to city regulations. The capacity of outdoor and indoor space is almost the same. Indoor is slightly larger. I would assume a capacity of 500 to 750 pax in total.

The club serves as a restaurant for dinner. Again the two floors offers two different type of cuisines. Asian and Mediterranean. It is good food and ambience. And most importantly you can continue clubbing after dinner without changing location. Please be aware your table for dinner will be removed at the end of your dinner when the place is shifting from restaurant to club!

If you are in Istanbul for few days do not miss to club at Anjelique and you will love it yourself!

Sunset to Sunrise to Sunset at Macakızı, Bodrum!

Macakızı, certainly not an ordinary place to be at in Bodrum. Located in the most popular Turkbuku bay offering the very best of Bodrum in its own much desirable style!

This place is nothing like a luxury resort. There is no reception desk, staff wearing ties, kids club and even no slippers in the rooms!

Macakızı is more then having a summer holiday in a luxury resort. It is simply a never ending treat from sunset to sunrise to sunset!

The place offers a totally different experience. An experience that you will feel you are in the right place in every minute of your stay.

Over the years Macakızı has created its own luxurious world under the talented hands of its owner, Sahir Erozan. And there is no doubt the most discerned travelers around the world now prefers his place to visit over an over every year.

Among the best of Macakızı the lounge & bar comes first!  The soul of the bar is simply its people. The most stylish and good looking people around the World do make most out of their Macakızı experience around this bar. And tasty cocktails helps everyone quite a bit!

The wooden deck is where you will allow sun to treat your body until you realize you need to jump in Bodrum's awaking but crystal clear sea.

All day music plays just so right at all time assuring perfect buzz at main areas!

The food at the restaurant is excellent and I did have the chance to try more then few items from the menu. Kitchen is led by great Chef Aret presenting fine dining Mediterranean cuisine!

The newly renovated rooms are great. Stay in an upper level room or Junior Suite and you will have a spectacular view of Turkbuku bay from your own private terrace. Leave the curtain and a window open and you will love the way sun and breeze waking you up in the mornings unless you want to loose time sleeping until noon!

Last but not least the place is so nicely located that you can walk to trendy restaurants and clubs in the area. But do not forget everyone else wants to get in to Macakızı to sun bath at its wooden deck, hang around at the bar or dine at its fine restaurant which rarely has space for walk in guests!

If you do want to get a real high end Bodrum experience from sunset to sunrise back to sunset then have no doubt to stay at Macakızı. And you will love it!

The new jewel on the Bosphorus is Shangri La!

Shangri-La Istanbul is almost ready to open its doors to discerned traveler very soon. I was invited for a site inspection followed by a cocktail, which took place at the Shangri La Suite, last night.

Thanks to Shangri La Team it was a wonderful night. Food, music and most importantly warm hospitality extended by every member of the team was remarkable.

There is no doubt that Bosphorus is about to have a new jewel house on its shores.

To me the highlights of the hotel - yet will be - are Spa, Fine Dining Chinese Restaurant and Bosphorus Deluxe Suites, which are located on the corner side of the building facing to historic peninsula, Asian Side and the doors of Dolmabahce Palace. One should live in one of these suites to catch her dreams!

The rest is as you should expect from a Shangri -La! On Shangri-La's own words "There's no greater act of hospitality than to embrace a stranger as one's own"

Opening on May 11th. Guests are welcomed as of May 15th!

Fashion Week 2013 A / W

Taking place at Antrepo 3 which is near by Istanbul Modern Museum until 16th of March.

Even if you are not into runways you may easily sit at the main hall and enjoy good live DJ music while watching the fashion world going around you. It is kind of fun for a while...

My impression at the show was that now men is more fashion concern then women but the thing is that they were all looking like each other so much that I thought it was bizarre!

Of course do not miss the opportunity to visit Istanbul Modern since you are there already. The exhibition "Modernity? Perspectives from France and Turkey" may open your mind!

And after have a bottle of good wine at the restaurant while watching magnificent view of Bosphorus and historic peninsula and dream away...
